The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) strengthened its connection with the community by hiring two experienced leaders with strong ties to the Central Ohio region. COTA announced today that Robbie Banks has joined as Director of Community Impact, and Kimberly Cole is now COTA’s Community Relations Manager.

“COTA is implementing exciting innovations for our customers, and Robbie and Kimberly have the precise know-how to deliver our wonderful story and service to the people of Central Ohio, our team members, and our executive leadership,” said Patrick Harris, vice president of external relations. “As long-time residents of Columbus, Robbie and Kimberly bring unique knowledge that will help us serve all of our stakeholders ­– customers, employees, and community members.”

As Director of Community Impact, Banks is responsible for building relationships between COTA and vital community leaders. Banks will advise leadership on matters involving community and customer impact, as well as developing and expanding partnerships in alignment with COTA’s vision to move every life forward. Banks has nearly 20 years of professional experience working with critical Central Ohio organizations, including the City of Columbus mayor’s office, Columbus Chamber and Experience Columbus. Banks recently served as Program Director, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Columbus Partnership.

“I’ve dedicated my professional career to making sure Columbus is a great place to live, work, and play for every community member and will continue that mindset in this role with COTA,” said Banks. “I look forward to overseeing long-term communication and partnership opportunities throughout Central Ohio, including implementing critical improvements that impact our vulnerable community members.”

Cole joins COTA with ten years of professional experience in the public and private sectors including serving in several capacities for the Columbus Metropolitan Library and at the United Way of Central Ohio.

At COTA, Cole will manage and maintain the ongoing and broad-based contact and outreach with community, municipal, and civic leaders. Cole will keep them informed of COTA’s current activities and long-range plans.
